…Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, (vs. 14), who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession – to the praise of his glory.

The Holy Spirit is a deposit/down payment on our inheritance of eternal life. when you make a down payment on a house, you are making a commitment to 20 or 30 years of debt, payable each month until paid in full. The Holy spirit is God’s down payment on our lives from the moment of salvation throughout eternity. We sign our commitment in ink. God signs His eternal commitment to us in the blood of His Son, Jesus Christ.
