Psalm 13: 1 and 2

How long, O Lord?  Will you forget me forever?  How long will you hide your face from me?  How long must I wrestle with my thoughts and every day have sorrow in my heart?  How long will my enemy triumph over me?

When we are in deep trials or suffering, we can echo these words with great emotion.  children who have gone astray, families torn apart by sin, marriages ended, financial difficulties on all sides, the betrayal of friends.  We cry out, “How long, Oh Lord?”  the answer to ths suffering is in verse 5,

But I trust in your unfailing love; my heart rejoices in your salvation.

I TRUST IN YOUR UNFAILING LOVE.  Faced with suffering that seems not to end, knowing we can trust in a LOVE that never fails, is a reason to get out of bed in the morning.

  1. This is. so true. It is also the reason we can sleep at night! I am reminded of a class I attended when training a service dog. The instructor, although not a professed believer, was instructing us on how to deal with fearfulness in these gentle dogs. We were to never say “that’s okay” or coddle when our pup shook with fear at a car wash, go example . We were to tell them “Don’t” then praise them when they calmed down. She explained that “You are God to your dog. If they don’t trust you they try to take over leadership of their lives, becoming fearful and aggressive. ”
Wow! What a picture. “Fear not!” Only trust! I love that he is absolutely trust-worthy!
